At Last, Cancer is going to Lose
The Nature's Masterpiece...Would you Believe it?
Remnants
of ancient viruses hidden in the human body for millions of years that can cure
Cancer.
Scientists believe that the remains of ancient viruses that have spent millions of years hiding inside human DNA help the human body fight cancer.
A
study by the France Crick Institute has proved that the inactive remnants of
these ancient viruses are activated when the cancer cells become uncontrollable.
Unintentionally, it helps the immune system in the human body to target and attack specific cancers.
With
the help of this discovery, the research team wants to develop a vaccine that
can treat cancer or prevent cancer.
The
researchers also examined a link between the ability to combat lung cancer and
a specific part of the immune system called the B cell. These cells accumulate
around the cancer.
B
cells are the part of the human body where antibodies are made and are known
for their role in combating any infection, such as the corona epidemic.
However, what these B cells were doing in lung cancer cells is not yet clear.
With
the help of a few complex experiments, it was found that they were trying to
combat the virus.
Professor
Julian Downward is associate research director at the Francis Crick Institute.
"It turned out that these antibodies were trying to identify remnants of
non-physical retroviruses," he told. ‘
"Retroviruses
cleverly leave a copy of their genetic instructions in the human body. Eight
percent of human DNA consists of such viral variants. ‘
Some
of these retroviruses became a permanent part of the human genetic code
millions of years ago, while some may have entered human DNA thousands of years
ago.
Some
of these external genetic guidelines also work for helpful purposes in human
cells over time, but some are prevented from spreading.
However,
a cancer cell becomes turbulent when it starts growing uncontrollably and in
such a situation, physical control over these ancient viruses is lost.
These genetic guidelines have lost the ability to produce complete viruses, but they can make pieces that allow the human immune system to recognize the viral threat.
Professor
Casiotis is the head of retroviral immunology at the Biomedical Research
Center.
"If
the immune system cheats that there is an infection in the cancer cells and it
tries to kill the virus, it's a kind of alarm," he said. ‘
Antibodies awaken other parts of the immune system to help, which destroy cells infected with the infection, meaning that the immune system targets cancer cells in an attempt to stop a virus.
"Retroviruses
have a new role because in the past they may have caused cancer in our
ancestors, which made them part of our DNA, but now they are saving us, which
is surprising," says Professor Casiotis. ‘
The
study, published in the journal Nature, says that this work happens naturally,
but now researchers want this effect to be used in the form of a vaccine so
that the body can be taught to identify external retroviruses.
Dears! So, did you believe or not?... Well, you have to believe
because nothing is impossible for nature.
