Brain Chip is installed Successfully
The very First Brain Chip has been implanted
==============================================================
The wireless brain chip developed by
billionaire tech investor Elon Musk's business, Neuralink, has been
successfully implanted in a human for the first time.
He claims that encouraging neuron
spikes or nerve impulses have been seen in the patient's brain following the
chip's implantation, and the patient is also healing quickly based on the
preliminary data.
Numerous rival businesses had
already tried with implanting similar devices into patients' brains prior to
Neuralink.
Regarding this, the US Federal Food
and Drug Administration (FDA) and Neuralink have been contacted by the BBC.
The FDA approved Elon Musk's
business to test the brain chip on humans in May of last year.
This resulted in a six-year study
where 64 minuscule threads were surgically inserted into the area of the brain
responsible for motor control.
According to Neuralink, the implant
is run by a wirelessly rechargeable battery. According to the business, the
threads wirelessly transfer brain signals to the experimental implant and then
to an app. The messages regarding the concerned person's preferred movement are
decoded by this app.
Elon Musk announced that the Neuralink
device will be known as telepathy on the social networking site X (Twitter),
which he also controls.
It is said that a telepathic user
will be able to operate a computer or phone with just their thoughts.
Additionally, any device may be managed via this computer or phone.
The initial target audience for this
gadget will be those with physical disabilities.
In the past, Neurallink has faced
criticism. In December 2022, Reuters revealed that the corporation conducted
experiments on animals, including lambs, monkeys, and pigs, which led to the
deaths of about 1,500 of them.
The US Department of Agriculture's
chief announced in July 2023 that the corporation had no infractions of
regulations pertaining to animal research.
But the agency is conducting a
different probe at the moment. The FDA approved Musk's company's request to
test the chip on people in May 2023.
